Denali Kayak School
1/2 Mile Otto Lake Rd. Healy, Alaska 99755 docadventure@hotmail.com 907.683.1925
The Denali Kayak School makes its home at the base of the Alaska
Range
just outside of Denali National Park. The craggy, snow covered peaks,
create a picturesque backdrop for the waterfowl covered, blue waters of Otto
Lake where we teach our classes. Trumpeter Swans, Arctic Terns, ducks and
geese share the water with us, while moose and the occassional grizzly bear
make appearances on the far bank. From Otto Lake we move to the spectacular
Nenana River as it cuts its way north through the heart of the range.
The Nenana forms the eastern boundary of Denali National Park and moose,
caribou, grizzly and black bears are common sights along the banks while
dall sheep cling to the cliff walls in the Nenana Canyon. This forty mile
corridor creates an amazing variety of whitewater to learn on, steadily
progressing from Class I to Class IV and provides for a truly world class
experience.

Kayak Camp for Teenagers $750
The last week of June, 2007 was the Denali Kayak School's first ever weeklong camp for teenage boys and girls. Both the kids and our guides had a great time. So in 2008 we're going to offer two camps: during the last week of June and again during the last week of July. Parents will drop their kids off on Sunday evening and return the following Saturday evening to pick them up. The camp includes meals from breakfast Monday morning to a pizza party lunch on Saturday. Last year meals consisted of cereal, pancake, or bacon and egg breakfasts, and meals ranging from fresh caught King Salmon, to spaghetti and even Pad Thai noodles. Our guides camp with the kids and chaperone them during the evening hours at Otto Lake. We provide all kayak gear, but the kids will need to bring there own camping gear.
