Too-loo-uk River Guides is excited about 2007 and another season of river rafting adventures in the remote corners of Alaska. We spend our lives in the back country of Alaska, hiking, climbing, skiing and of course, rafting and kayaking. We enjoy sharing with others our profound love for things truly wild and especially our passion for the river experience itself.
There is something inherently special about
a river trip. Maybe it's the seemingly effortless way the river takes us into
it's folds and carries us through the wilderness, maybe it's simply the magic of
the water or the way the light dances on the ripples of its surface late in the
day, or maybe it's the bonds river runners share after a few days plying the waters
together or that wonderful anticipation for the unknown that lies around the next
bend. Whatever it is, it has the power to revitalize us, to stir our inner passion
for things wild and free and perhaps change us in ways we never thought possible,
to make us laugh, sometimes at ourselves, and most of all, of course, to show us a
heck of a great time!
NATURAL HISTORY
Certainly one of the major reasons to venture into the wilds of Alaska is to explore and discover the natural history. We think it is an important aspect of our expeditions. We are well versed in this area and always willing to share our knowledge of Alaska’s flora and fauna. We encourage everyone to partake in the fun of exploring the natural history along the river.
RIVER SAFETY
Our experience over the years has heightened our emphasis on safety. We are intimately aware that running rivers in remote areas of Alaska demands serious consideration. Our experience, training and preparedness are important factors in your safety. We are trained in CPR, Swift Water Rescue and emergency medicine. Every safety measure and precaution has been taken to ensure the least likelihood of mishap. Our equipment and safety gear are state of the art. Wet suits and booties are provided for whitewater stretches. All our expeditions consist of at least two boats, and our guest-to-guide ratio is never more than 3 to 1.
FOOD & DRINK
Here is where rafting is unsurpassed as a means of wilderness travel. You can access some of the wildest country imaginable and still have your glass of cabernet and cracker with brie before dinner. Let’s face it, good food is an important part of any vacation and why should a raft expedition be any exception? We can haul it and we do. We'll serve delicious, well balanced meals with fresh foods, prepared each day in camp, cooked over the fire and baked in our Dutch ovens. Fresh breads, cakes and cookies are standard fare. Guides do all the cooking but guests are more than welcome to pitch in. Vegetarians and other special diets can always be accommodated.TO MAKE A RESERVATION
When booking a trip with us we recommend doing so as early as possible to ensure that your desired trip and dates are still available. We must receive a $200 deposit per person and a completed reservation form to confirm your reservation. Once you are confirmed you will receive a trip itinerary and any other information specific to preparing for your expedition. The balance of your trip cost is due 30 days prior to your launch date.
